v1.3.1

Version 1.3.1 for Mac

Selecting

  • Clicking a row in the sidebar selects it straight away. On some Macs the highlight used to jump back to the previously selected row, or to two rows at once, before settling on the one you clicked.
  • The same applies to Explore’s device list, the Scan with menu, and the run and start-step menus in Compare runs.

Controls

  • Switches and menus in the Inspector’s live controls, and the toggles in Settings → Privacy, no longer spring back to their old value for a moment after you change them.
  • A slider in the Inspector stays where you let go of it, rather than jumping back to where the drag started until the peripheral reports the new value.
  • After you press Apply on a value, anything you type next stays in the field when the applied value comes back.
  • Closing the Pro sheet, answering the advanced-capabilities question, or switching Enable AI automation no longer brings the sheet or the question back for a moment.

Running a peripheral

  • The sidebar scrolls smoothly while a peripheral is running. Its animated running icon used to slow the whole window down for as long as the run lasted, on some Macs badly.
  • The running icon now shows on a selected row too. It used to disappear against the highlight.

Help

  • Help & Documentation opens in its own window, which you can resize, move beside your work and keep open. It used to be a fixed-size panel that blocked the app until you closed it. The window takes its title from the page you are reading, and ⌘? opens it.
  • Settings → Help & Legal opens the same window, on the page you choose.
  • Following a link from one page to another now moves the list of pages with it, and a link to a section of another page stays on that section.
  • New page: Bluetooth LE Basics, under Start Here. It explains peripherals and centrals, advertising, services and characteristics in plain terms, for anyone new to Bluetooth LE.

Known limits

  • Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later and a Mac with Apple Silicon. Macs on macOS 13 keep version 1.2.3 and are not offered this update.
  • Keep the app in your Applications folder. An app opened straight from the disk image or from Downloads runs from a read-only copy and cannot update itself.
